Uniondale, NY (October 21, 2020) – The New York Riptide announced today that the team has signed defender Darryl Robertson to a two-year contract.
Per team policy, no terms were released.
Robertson was acquired by the Riptide from the Rochester Knighthawks on September 17th. Selected 52nd overall by the Toronto Rock in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft, Robertson saw action in 25 games over two seasons for the Knighthawks. The 6-foot right-hander has scooped up 84 loose balls in his career and caused 16 turnovers. He also has 13 points on two goals and 11 assists in his career. Robertson won the Minto Cup with his hometown Whitby Warriors in 2013 and has also played for Brampton and Cobourg of Major Series Lacrosse since graduating from the Junior lacrosse ranks.
“We feel Darryl is on the verge of becoming a consistent and reliable defenseman in the NLL,” said Riptide General Manager Jim Veltman. “We look forward to adding his athletic contributions to our back end.”
The Riptide will return to Nassau Coliseum for the franchise’s second season in 2020-21. For more information, please visit NewYorkRiptide.com or on social media at @NewYorkRiptide.
